Basin Faucet Height and Spout Reach: What Buyers Should Measure Before Ordering
A faucet can fit the mounting hole and still be awkward to use. The outlet may sit too close to the back of the basin, the handle may touch a wall, or a tall body may leave an unsuitable water drop. Buyers need a drawing of the basin and faucet together, not two separate attractive photographs.

This worksheet is intended for importers building a range and project buyers matching a scheduled basin. It avoids a universal “correct height” because basin shape, mounting position and outlet geometry differ.
Compare basin faucet models for your shortlist
Use the catalogue reference to distinguish the configurations. Confirm the current drawing, supplied components and sample before placing an order.
On a small screen, swipe the table sideways to read every column.
| Model | Catalogue format | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| 6039 | Tall single-hole | Confirm outlet height and reach against the finished basin rim, plus mounting-hole size and handle clearance. Tall styling alone does not establish compatibility. |
| 30028 / 30028Q | Pull-out | Check the pull-out hose travel, retraction arrangement and unobstructed space below the basin. Confirm the included hose set and fixing kit for the supplied revision. |
| 9020 | Single-hole countertop | Match the outlet position and handle movement to the selected basin and countertop. For repeated hotel-room installations, record the approved model revision and replacement-part references. |
| 6071 | Single-handle countertop | Request the exact drawing and confirm the supplied connection details. Do not transfer dimensions, inlet fittings or operating limits from another model in the range. |
| 6012 | Mechanical-arm | Ask for the movement range of each joint and check clearance to walls, mirrors and adjacent fittings. Review the water outlet positions with the actual basin before approving a sample. |
| 6072 | Single-hole lever | Confirm the hose ends at both the faucet and the supply connection, mounting requirements and available finish. Branding and custom changes must be agreed for this exact model. |
| 6013 | Digital-display swivel | Confirm what the display measures, its power source and the spout movement limits. A temperature display is not evidence of thermostatic control; request the valve specification separately. |
| 70035 | Short single-hole | Compare the outlet height and reach with the basin deck and bowl. Request a current drawing rather than assuming that a short body suits every inset or countertop basin. |

Understand the measurements that matter
Overall faucet height is not the same as outlet height. Spout reach describes the horizontal relationship between the mounting position and the water outlet, but drawing conventions can differ. Confirm the reference points used by the supplier before comparing measurements.
The practical principle is to coordinate the faucet with the basin so the washing area remains usable. hansgrohe’s ComfortZone guidance discusses this relationship; it does not establish compatibility for an unrelated model or basin.
| Measure or obtain | Why the buyer needs it |
|---|---|
| Basin rim and internal profile | Locates the usable bowl and the available space below the outlet |
| Mounting-hole position and size | Determines where the faucet sits and whether the fixing fits |
| Deck or countertop thickness | Checks the clamping range and underside access |
| Outlet height and reach | Places the outlet relative to the rim and usable basin area |
| Handle movement envelope | Checks clearance to the wall, mirror, ledge and nearby fittings |
| Supply connection and hose route | Identifies connection requirements and space below the counter |
Match the faucet to the basin arrangement
A countertop vessel basin and an inset basin can need very different outlet positions even when their outer widths are similar. A faucet mounted on the basin deck starts from a different reference level than one mounted beside a raised vessel. Draw the finished countertop and rim levels before discussing a tall or short body.
Also check offset installations. If the faucet sits to one side, a front-view photograph can hide the actual outlet position. Request both a plan view and a side view, with the dimensions taken from consistent reference points.

Review the water path with a real sample
Ask a qualified installer to test the intended faucet and basin combination under the specified installation conditions. Observe where the stream lands, whether normal handwashing is comfortable and whether water leaves the bowl during typical use. Record the flow setting and supply conditions so the result can be interpreted later.
Do not treat “tall,” “water-saving” or “splash-free” as proof that a model will work with every basin. Outlet angle, flow characteristics and the bowl geometry all affect the result. A sample review is especially useful before repeating a combination across many hotel rooms.
Check installation and maintenance space underneath
Photograph the underside of the proposed countertop or vanity. Confirm access to the fixing nut, hose connections and isolation arrangements with the installer. A crowded cabinet can make a technically compatible faucet difficult to install or service.
Ask which fixing kit and hoses are included, their specifications, and whether any extra adapters are required. Keep these details in the quotation so the approved sample and the delivered package have the same scope.
Build a clear request for quotation
Send a basin drawing, countertop thickness, desired finish, quantity and destination. State whether the faucet is for a confirmed project or a retail range of several basin types. Ask for a dimensioned model drawing, included components and sample availability. For a coordinated room, add the approved finish reference.
Common buyer questions
Should the outlet always point directly at the drain?
There is no universal placement rule for every bowl and outlet. Check the usable washing area and actual water behaviour with the chosen combination.
Can I order a taller version based only on the product photograph?
No. Request the exact model drawing and confirm the mounting and outlet measurements. Similar product styling does not guarantee identical geometry.
Compare the tall single-hole basin faucet and hotel and home basin faucet as catalogue options, then confirm which drawing matches your basin schedule.
