EXW Ex Works

EXW, or Ex Works, means Party A prepares the goods and makes them available at the agreed factory, warehouse or pickup location. Party B is responsible for pickup, loading, transportation, customs handling, import duties and final delivery unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Party Definition

For this EXW trade term page, the parties are defined as follows:

Party A (Manufacturer / Seller) Aqvia Bath is Party A when supplying bathroom products. Party A prepares the goods and makes them available at the agreed place.
Party B (Buyer / Purchaser) Party B is the buyer, importer, distributor, dealer or project purchaser. Party B arranges pickup and most logistics responsibilities under EXW.

Responsibility Summary

Under EXW, Party A has limited delivery responsibility. Party B takes over most cost, risk and logistics work after the goods are made available.

Duties and Taxes Not responsible for destination duties and taxes. Responsible for import duties, taxes, customs fees and local charges.

Party A Responsibilities

Prepare products according to confirmed quotation or written agreement.

Provide standard packing or agreed packing before pickup.

Confirm pickup location and available pickup time.

Provide basic commercial documents when agreed and available.
Under standard EXW, Party A is not required to load the goods onto Party B’s vehicle or handle export customs clearance unless both parties agree otherwise in writing.

Party B Responsibilities

Arrange pickup vehicle, forwarder, carrier or logistics agent.

Bear loading cost and loading risk under standard EXW.
✓
Handle export declaration, export permits and customs clearance if required.
✓
Arrange inland transportation, international freight, import clearance and final delivery.
✓
Pay import duties, taxes, destination charges and local customs fees.

When EXW Is Suitable

EXW is usually suitable when Party B has its own freight forwarder, strong logistics control and the ability to handle export and import requirements.

If Party B needs Party A to help arrange export handling, delivery to port or international shipping, other trade terms such as FCA, FOB, CIF or DAP may be more suitable.
